UI/UX Developer – Evanston, IL
Bear Claw is a growing SaaS company transforming applicant tracking and passive candidate headhunting. We’re looking for a talented UI/UX Developer to join our engineering team and play a key role in building Bear Claw’s new user interface. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and help shape the product’s next generation.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development of Bear Claw’s new UI, translating designs and prototypes into responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement UX best practices, leveraging Figma for wireframes, prototypes, and usability testing.
- Develop and maintain APIs and integrate with back-end services in Node.js, with serverless workflows powered by AWS Lambda functions.
- Work closely with our data team to incorporate AI-driven insights via Amazon Redshift into the platform’s UI, creating smarter and more personalized user experiences.
- Write high-quality, reusable, and testable code, including unit and integration tests.
- Ensure scalability, performance, and accessibility across the application.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and TDD initiatives.
- Use analytics, user feedback, and AI-driven reporting to continuously improve the platform experience and influence the overall design direction.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–5+ years of experience in front-end or full-stack development.
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern styling frameworks (e.g., Tailwind, Material-UI).
- Experience building and consuming authenticated APIs.
- Familiarity with Node.js, AWS (Lambda, Redshift, S3, EC2), Git, and Docker (or similar cloud/container tools).
- Understanding of UX principles and proficiency with Figma (experience with Sketch or Adobe XD a plus).
- Interest in leveraging AI and data visualization to enhance user experiences.
- Ability to estimate project scope, manage tasks independently, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- BS in Computer Science or relevant experience preferred, but a strong portfolio can substitute.
