Be the Bridge Between Our Library and Community: Public Outreach Associate
Dover Free Public Library is seeking a dynamic, creative Public Outreach Library Associate to transform how our community connects with library resources. About the Role
The Outreach Associate will be the driving force behind our community engagement strategy, crafting the library's public image and expanding our reach throughout Dover. You'll have the freedom to design and implement your vision for library outreach.
- Lead creative public relations campaigns that showcase our library's value to the community
- Represent the library at community festivals, school events, and neighborhood gatherings
- Design eye-catching materials that tell our story through graphics, photography, and compelling copy
- Build our digital presence through strategic social media management and content creation
- Forge partnerships with local businesses, schools, community organizations, and diverse population groups
- Analyze community needs through data collection and direct engagement to shape future programming
- Collaborate with staff to ensure outreach efforts align with library resources and capabilities

- New faces becoming regular library patrons
- Increased participation in programs across different demographic groups
- Strengthened relationships with community organizations
- Fresh, innovative approaches to traditional library services
Details
- Hours: Part-time (up to 20 hours/week) with some evenings and weekends
- Benefits: Standard holidays, paid vacation and sick time per library personnel manual
- Compensation: Starting at $27.18/hour (meets NJLA recommended minimums), commensurate with experience
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Passion for community engagement and public service
- Creative problem-solving skills and initiative
