The Creative Audio Organization is a centralized team that touches nearly every product Meta produces, making our team integral to the company. We collaborate with product and design teams across Meta to drive sonic innovation and our mission is to create meaningful experiences that strengthen human connections through the transformative power of audio.We're seeking a seasoned Sound Designer to join our innovative Family of Apps (FoA) Audio team, where you'll help create meaningful experiences that enhance human connection through audio. As part of a diverse group of skilled creatives from various audio backgrounds and industries, you'll have access to state-of-the-art recording facilities in Fremont, Burlingame, and Seattle to bring your audio vision to life. In this role, you'll also be at the forefront of haptics design, exploring new ways to add depth to mobile experiences on our Family of Apps, including Facebook/Messenger, Instagram, and more.In this role, you'll be responsible for the entire sound design process, from concept to implementation, and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality audio experiences across multiple platforms.
Required Skills
Sound Designer - FoA (Family of Apps) Responsibilities:
- Execute on complex interaction sound design projects through completion.
- Design and create custom haptic patterns for Meta's Family of Apps (FoA) on Android and iOS devices using Meta Haptics Studio.
- Lead complex interaction sound design projects from concept to delivery, overseeing all aspects of production to ensure successful completion.
- Design exceptional sound experiences that are distinctive, memorable, and iconic for the 3+ billion users of Meta technologies.
- Apply your expertise in interaction sound design to translate high-level, broad concepts into concrete, actionable plans and tangible deliverables.
- Establish and maintain sound design systems by setting standards, guidelines, and best practices, serving as the authoritative expert and single source of truth for all sound-related matters.
- Work effectively in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
- Collaborate closely with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to define project scope, plan, and execute sound design initiatives, ensuring seamless collaboration and successful implementation.
- Influence key business decisions within the organization and product/ business area, leveraging clear data-driven design decision making
- Drive sonic quality by creating unique, memorable experiences while maintaining quality and leveraging resources for product consistency and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless and efficient sound implementation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience creating UX sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and non-traditional or immersive environments.
- Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products.
- Experience with sound design synthesis, latest plugins and creating sounds using oscillators.
- Demonstrated skills in Pro Tools and/or other professional DAW’s.
- Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD).
- Experience testing implementation of sounds.
- Demonstrated music production experience.
- Understanding of human-centered design.
- Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking and how it applies to sound design.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing, scoping and communicating project milestones and deliverables.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines.
- Navigate ambiguous and fast paced environments.
- Understand accessibility requirements and how they apply to UX Sound Design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing for Mobile audio.
- Experience in designing audio for AR and VR experiences.
- Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)
- AR audio experience with AR design tools (Spark, Snap Studio)
- Knowledge of acoustics, equipment set ups and calibration
- Experience mixing in a variety of formats, including spatial audio
- Video editing skills (Premier Pro, Final Cut, Avid, etc)
- Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or other immersive mediums.
- Experience working in Figma.
- Experience working in Origami for Prototyping.
$113,000/year to $162,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
