This role combines creative design expertise with technical development skills to create compelling, compliant, and user-focused digital experiences for healthcare professionals and patients. You'll be responsible for designing and developing websites that not only look exceptional but also meet the unique requirements of the healthcare industry, including accessibility standards, HIPAA compliance considerations, and medical regulatory guidelines. Position Overview We are seeking a talented Website Developer and Designer to join our innovative medical startup team. This role combines creative design expertise with technical development skills to create compelling, compliant, and user-focused digital experiences for healthcare professionals and patients. You'll be responsible for designing and developing websites that not only look exceptional but also meet the unique requirements of the healthcare industry, including accessibility standards, HIPAA compliance considerations, and medical regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities Design & User Experience Create visually appealing, professional website layouts that instill trust and confidence in our medical platform Develop user-friendly interfaces specifically tailored for healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers Design with accessibility in mind, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards for users with disabilities Create intuitive information architecture for complex medical data and workflows Develop design systems and style guides that maintain consistency across all digital touchpoints Development & Implementation Write clean, semantic code (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) optimized for healthcare applications Implement secure, HIPAA-compliant web solutions with appropriate data protection measures Develop responsive designs that work seamlessly across devices used in clinical and home settings Integrate with healthcare APIs, Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and medical databases Ensure fast loading times and optimal performance for critical healthcare applications Quality Assurance & Testing Conduct thorough testing across multiple devices, browsers, and assistive technologies Perform security testing and vulnerability assessments Debug and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime for critical medical applications Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimal performance on medical facility networks Collaboration & Communication Work closely with medical professionals, product managers, and clinical teams to understand user needs Collaborate with backend developers to integrate complex medical data systems Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure regulatory adherence Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical medical stakeholders Participate in user research sessions with healthcare professionals and patients Continuous Learning & Innovation Stay current with healthcare technology trends and digital health regulations Keep up with web accessibility standards and healthcare UX best practices Learn about medical workflows and terminology to better serve our users Explore emerging technologies in telemedicine and digital health platforms Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise Core Languages: Advanced proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+) Frameworks & Libraries: Experience with React, Vue.js, or Angular; familiarity with medical/healthcare frameworks preferred Backend Integration: Knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and database integration Security: Understanding of web security principles, especially in healthcare contexts Version Control: Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows Design & UX Skills Design Tools: Expert-level skills in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD) UI/UX Principles: Deep understanding of user-centered design, especially for healthcare applications Accessibility: Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and assistive technology compatibility Responsive Design: Expertise in creating mobile-first, device-agnostic experiences Information Architecture: Ability to organize complex medical information logically Healthcare Industry Knowledge Understanding of healthcare workflows, terminology, and user needs (preferred) Familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare privacy regulations Experience with healthcare design patterns and medical device interfaces (plus) Knowledge of clinical documentation and EHR systems (preferred) Soft Skills Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to tackle complex healthcare UX challenges Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to design and development, critical in healthcare settings Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving requirements Empathy: Understanding of patient and provider needs and challenges What We Offer Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in healthcare technology Collaborative, mission-driven startup environment Professional development opportunities in the rapidly growing digital health sector Flexible work arrangements Comprehensive benefits package Equity participation in a growing medical technology company Experience Level 3-5 years of web development and design experience, with healthcare or regulated industry experience preferred.
