This is a U.S. based position.Job OverviewThe Director, Communications and Campaigns is a key member of the Growth and Impact team with the mission of honing and amplifying the Amalgamated Charitable Foundation’s voice as a bold leader in the philanthropic space and leading the organization in building a creative communications strategy and leading marketing campaign. The Director is responsible for executing proactive marketing and communications strategies in support of ACF’s goals and mission. They will employ strategic thinking and cross-channel marketing to connect strategy across website, digital, social, mobile, email and other evolving media channels.The Director brings an energetic, mission-driven, strategic communications posture to develop and execute strategy, build infrastructure, lead marketing campaigns and communications planning, leverage internal resources, manage vendors and consultants, and share expertise and best practices in messaging and branding. This role will support a broad range of creative content, marketing, brand, and communications initiatives across the organization. This position will report to the Senior Director of Growth and Impact.
As the Foundation embarks on a new chapter in its growth with ambitious goals for its public profile, the Director must bring an enterprising approach to maximizing the organization’s engagement across a variety of internal and external channels to expand awareness of and interest in ACF among priority audiences. The Director will lead assigned brand initiatives, simultaneous communications campaigns, and design projects, while maintaining brand standards across various mediums to support the organization’s internal and external communications goals. They will also help guide digital marketing strategy and outreach, driving results designed to support visibility goals and executing successful marketing tactics that increase engagement across social media, Web, email and other mediums.
The Director will also be responsible for leading a variety of internal communications initiatives in partnership with the Communications Associate to ensure staff communications are aligned with external efforts and understand the ACF brand. Strong candidates will be self-driven, collaborative, and possess a sophisticated understanding of philanthropy and social justice, with a strong creative point of view.ResponsibilitiesCommunications Strategy and Brand Marketing:Develop, implement, and oversee a strategic communications plan, including setting priorities and goals, measurable objectives, strategies, and tactics.
Develop and implement effective and timely brand and positioning strategies designed to drive awareness, engagement, and understanding of the brand, while highlighting ACF’s unique role in philanthropy, including ACF’s unique relationship with Amalgamated Bank.
Ensure consistency in narrative and messaging across strategic communications channels and tactics.
Provide strategic advice and counsel on all external and internal strategic communications, branding, and messaging issues, including rapid response and crisis communications as needed.
Develop and execute communications planning for critical milestones, initiatives, and campaigns.
Oversee development of content planning, including verticals across earned media, editorial, publications, organizational
Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and all levels of staff, including other Directors to provide information and consult across strategic communication needs.
Establish and manage effective cross-team relationships with organization leadership, program leads, development, and others to identify communications goals, target audiences, and timely, strategic opportunities that advance collective priorities.
Develop talking points, media interview prep, and presentations for senior leadership as necessary.
Provide guidance and training as needed to staff on effective brand usage and guidelines.
Lead earned media efforts, including proactive and responsive outreach to relevant reporters and outlets.
Digital Marketing and Strategy:Maintain robust knowledge of digital media marketing and evaluate emerging technologies and their use, while managing the assessment and roll out of new communications tools.
Oversee updates to and maintenance of ACF’s website, including all primary content updates and structural changes, incorporating best practices for Web design and marketing.
Work with ACF Leadership to execute targeted brand awareness efforts.
Lead marketing strategy, including developing materials or collateral for a wide variety of in-person and virtual public and programmatic events.
Develop, implement, and maintain processes for timely reports analyzing/sharing key performance indicators of digital marketing efforts including performance reports.
Manage the Foundation’s email marketing program, devising schedules, timelines, list segmentation and content for a wide variety of targeted outreach.
Content Creation:Oversee graphic design strategy and content, ensuring all materials are on brand and reflect organizational messaging.
Provide marketing support and strategic guidance to Growth & Impact team on a variety of donor engagement opportunities, including events, presentations, etc.
Manage the design, approval, printing and distribution of all organizational collaterals and marketing materials.
Oversee the production of design high quality materials including decks, brochures, web pages, and other collaterals designed to drive awareness and engagement.
Manage all external design and Web vendors and work with department to select appropriate external support for projects as needed.
Lead assigned brand initiatives and design projects, maintaining brand standards across a variety of mediums.
Qualifications:A minimum of 9+ years of communications, political or advocacy campaigns, marketing, and/or public relations experience is required, with a preference for nonprofit or foundation related experience.
Action-oriented problem solver willing to roll up your sleeves and overcome challenges and roadblocks.
Strong team player with a positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Proven record in identifying and achieving measurable strategic communications goals, strategies, and tactics.
Strong knowledge of values-based framing and working with diverse audiences.
Familiarity with maintaining an organization’s narrative and message structure.
Experienced writer and editor with familiarity translating complex concepts into easily understandable communications.
Ability to create compelling written messages and craft human impact stories that inspire action.
Keen creative professional with an eye for design and familiarity with design principles and best practices.
Experienced project manager with track record of delivering results based on strategic goals.
Ability to quickly synthesize and distill large quantities of complex policy and/or issue-related information.
Effective people manager with the ability to mentor staff and provide inclusive leadership.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
Keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Salary & BenefitsThe starting salary for this role is $150,000 - $175,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
This position will be remotely based with domestic travel, as needed, including our annual retreat.
