Work at Palm Beach Media Group
The editor will guide the editorial and artistic content of Tallahassee Magazine (which publishes six times a year) and manage the production process. The editor reports to the editorial director of Palm Beach Media Group.
Duties:
- Ideate and evaluate content to determine what will be published
- Develop the editorial calendar
- Collaborate with the magazine’s art director on photo shoots and layouts
- Cultivate and manage a team of freelance writers
- Write, edit, and fact check articles
- Ensure deadlines are met for efficient publication
- Ensure all content is accurate and consistent with the magazine’s voice and vision
- Oversee and work within publication budgets
- Attend functions on behalf of the magazine
- Develop a network of professional and social contacts within the community
- Communicate and cooperate with department heads in production, sales and marketing, and circulation
Requirements
- Degree in journalism, English, communications, or similar. Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in an editorial role
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead a team with enthusiasm and passion
