QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree required for non-applied lesson courses. Professional industry experience may be considered for applied lesson instructors. Candidates may apply to teach more than one course.
RESPONSIBILITIES: To serve as an adjunct faculty member for the Music program, teaching one or more in-person, undergraduate music courses and/or lessons. Available positions include:
- Instructor of Saxophone: Teach applied saxophone studio lessons during the fall 2025 semester.
- Instructor of Guitar: Teach applied guitar studio lessons during the fall 2025 semester.
- Instructor of Voice: Teach applied studio lessons in voice, emphasizing contemporary and popular music during the fall 2025 semester.
- Instructor of Music History: Teach Music History II (After Bach-Present) during fall 2025. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1pm-2:15pm.
- Instructor of Music Theory: Teach Music Theory I during spring 2026. Class meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 11:25am-12:15pm.
POSITION DETAILS: Instructors must be able to teach in person. Travel reimbursement is available for those traveling significant distances. Faculty are contracted per course each semester. Salary is based on education and experience.
APPOINTMENT DATE: Fall courses begin August 26, 2025. EMU reserves the right to fill or keep the position open at any time.
