Intermediate-level Contract Specialists | Port Authority Engineering Division
The Contract Specialist will work for our client, a leading civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recently voted as one of the Top 25 Engineering firms by NJ Biz. This firm has steadily grown based on a solid reputation for providing quality service. The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers and inspectors throughout New Jersey and New York. Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.
Reporting to the Project Manager for the PANYNJ Engineering Division, the Contract Specialist shall prepare clearly written, fully coordinated and complete contract books (project manuals) to be used to solicit bids on construction and maintenance contracts.
This is a hybrid work environment with a minimum of three days/week in-office at 2 Montgomery Street.
Prepare contract books/project manuals which contain complete project-specific administrative and technical requirements for construction and maintenance contracts.
Coordinate the functional scope of work requirements with all appropriate engineering design divisions.
Provide contractual and procedural guidance to the Lead Engineer and Lead Architect.
Provide guidance on determination of the project type (lump sum, unit price, etc.)
Assist the project team with establishment of staging requirements, and milestone completion requirements.
Resolve contractual and technical comments and issues with engineering staff.
Facilitate internal document distribution and review process.
Serve as a liaison for the procurement department to prepare responses and coordinate input for responses.
Prepare “soft” cost budgets for performing contract related tasks.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture, or similar.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the development, preparation, review, and delivery of contract documents for multi-disciplinary architecture/engineering projects.
Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and budgets.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of construction documents as promoted by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). - CSI certification.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or similar.
