DevTech is looking for a UX/UI Designer to work as an institutional contractor on its Analytics, Data, Visualization, and Information Services 2.0 (ADVISE 2.0) contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). ADVISE 2.0 staff comprise much of the USAID Data Services team, led by USAID’s Chief Data Officer (CDO) and situated in USAID’s Bureau for Management, Office of the Chief Information Officer (M/CIO).
The UX/UI Designer will work with the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). Overall, this role is responsible for the look, feel and clarity of how the team’s data graphics are visually presented. This role will perform user interface and user experience design functions across various digital assets as an integral staff member in the humanitarian assistance data space. The successful candidate will evidence a passion for delivering adaptive and creative solutions to UI/UX design problems by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in user experience design and user interface technology.
This position’s place of performance is Washington D.C. Remote work has been authorized for this position.

Ensure that all elements of the online user experience are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual design.Investigate user experience design requirements for our suite of digital assets.Develop and conceptualize a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand.Produce high quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.Design UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.Test UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages.Collaborate with the marketing team, and internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the digital user.Provide advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities in order to analyze and predict user behavior.Adhere to style standards on typography and graphic design.
May be requested to be on-call or serve as needed on Washington-based Response Management Teams (RMTs), which provide services and support to Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DARTs) deployed in response to disasters. The duties on RMTs will vary.May serve on DARTs which may require immediate (within 24 hours) deployment overseas for an extended period of time. During deployment on DARTs (if required), and during site visits, there may be some additional physical exertion including long periods of standing, walking over rough terrain, or carrying of moderately heavy items (less than 50 pounds). Work is primarily performed in an office setting. During deployment on DARTs (if required), and during site visits, the work may additionally involve special safety and/or security precautions, wearing of protective equipment, and exposure to severe weather conditions.As needed, may serve on temporary detail within the bureau to meet operational needs during staff shortages. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for the required U.S. government security clearance for this project.
