The division brings together internal and external communications to advance our mission of a more equitable world. The Global Communications team is responsible for crafting internal and external use of foundation voice to advance and protect the foundations reputation and advance its priority advocacy and program objectives and ensure that employees are meaningfully connected to the foundations mission and community. The team is responsible for comprehensive voice planning for foundation leadership and key spokespeople as well as driving engagement with earned media.
The Global Content and Campaigns team is responsible for engaging priority audiences with compelling content and campaigns to help advance the foundations advocacy and programmatic goals and support its brand. The teams responsibility also includes the development and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns and managing foundation channels (e.g., gatesfoundation.org, The Optimist newsletter, social media for foundation and leadership, etc.) and platforms (e.g., Goalkeepers, the Discovery Center, Make Me Care About podcast, etc.).
Goalkeepers is a foundation-led initiative started in 2017 to support the Sustainable Development Goals. Using powerful stories, data, and partnerships, Goalkeepers highlights progress achieved, holds governments accountable, and brings together a new generation of leaders to address the worlds major challenges. It features an annual data report co-authored by Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, which tracks progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (or Global Goals); a yearly awards program and event during the UN General Assembly in New York City; and a community of leaders committed to achieving the Global Goals.
*This position is a limited-term position for 12 months. Relocation will not be provided.The Senior Communications Officer (SCO), Goalkeepers Campaign Lead, is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated digital campaign to support the foundations Goalkeepers initiative. The Campaign Lead will work closely with colleagues producing the annual Goalkeepers report and flagship event during UNGA week in September to develop and implement a digital campaign and content strategy to designed to shift perceptions and increase issue salience of our target audiences in key markets. This role will also work closely with our Measurement and Insights team to develop KPIs, find opportunities for message and creative testing with key audiences, and provide insights and reporting on key communications efforts. This role will require working across a matrixed organization, advising a cross-functional team including peers who do not share a direct reporting line, requiring an expert skills in demonstrating influence, not authority, to rally a team around a unified strategic vision.Goalkeepers is a foundation-led initiative started in 2017 to support the Sustainable Development Goals. Core tasks will include:Develop an overarching campaign and content strategy aligned with themes and communications and advocacy goals for Goalkeepers 2024
Develop strategy for engaging digital influencers, work with agency partners to recruit digital influencer cohort to attend the event, develop onboarding program, review and approve content and posts and serve as liaison between influencers and foundation leadership and Goalkeepers speakers and attendees
Work with agency partner to develop content strategy, creative ideas, and deliver digital content to support paid media plan and owned social media channels (including video, graphic, and copy for paid ads and organic social channels including FB, LI, IG, and X)
Coordinate campaign execution across key vendors including paid media agency, creative agency, and event production
Work with paid media lead to develop and implement paid media strategy to support Goalkeepers report and event objectives
Work with web strategy lead to oversee content updates for the Goalkeepers website
Serve as digital lead for Goalkeepers event including coordinating event live stream, rapid response video editing, organic social media posts across foundation and leadership channels, and social listening and engagement strategy
Work closely with Goalkeepers report, event, earned media, and regional leads to ensure campaign strategy and content aligns with their objectives and is coordinated into broader Goalkeepers communications objectives
Your ExperienceShown expertise in marketing and digital campaigns and a strong understanding of current digital media / social platform landscape and related user behavior and/or audiences.
Understanding of media segmentation and buying process, global experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to optimally synthesize information to reach diverse audiences and build consensus.
Proven ability to lead and collaborate in a constructive manner and to build and sustain cross-functional relationships.
Knowledge of the non-profit sector and successful campaigns (previous experience with the foundation is preferred but not required)
Knowledge of earned media and leadership voice a plus, but not
Advanced degree with 7+ years of validated ability, or equivalent experience.
Experience launching campaigns that successfully integrate paid and earned, digital and traditional channels.
campaigns that span multiple markets including the global south.
Experience working in communications in global health and development, across multiple issue areas, is a plus, not
travel requirements likely once or twice quarterly for up to a week.*Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.#LI-SC1The salary range for this role is $166,300 to $249,500 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences where our offices are located, in Seattle, Washington D.C., and Boston (Cambridge). The range for this role in these locations is $181,200 to $271,800 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission and new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint.
