The Vice President, Corporate Communications will be aligned with the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group and be responsible for both strategizing and executing studio / film written communications. Oversee casting and film rights "leaks" strategy, maintain strong relationships with trade reporters, field inquiries, clear with executives/filmmakers/representatives, and shape positioning in stories. Handle positioning and messaging for 20 or more motion pictures annually, from production through release. Oversee written communications regarding film output, including talking points, press kits, press releases, press mailers, pitch letters, feature stories, and speeches. Formulate crisis communications strategy under the direction of the SVP, coordinating with filmmakers, producers, executives and cross-functional teams including human resources, legal, distribution, creative and publicity. Determine strategies to enhance films’ visibility in the media and evangelize the studio’s broader narrative. Leverage film and entertainment industry expertise to shape communications strategy, monitor trends, and proactively identify opportunities and risks. Write, edit and strategically service press releases, media alerts and film-related communications. Collaborate with publicity, marketing, legal, digital, social media, research, consumer marketing, events, and filmmakers to keep studio teams aligned. Manage executive presence at special events. Build close relationships with peers and leaders at other Sony business units (e.g., Sony Electronics, PlayStation, Sony Music). Requirements
10+ years of corporate and/or crisis communications / media relations experience within the motion picture industry. College degree required; graduate degree preferred. Proven track record in developing and executing integrated communications strategies. Strong existing relationships with key trade media. Excellent judgment regarding what is newsworthy and promotable, and how to position news for media audiences. Proven, exceptional writing skills. Strategic, energetic thinker with a big-picture mentality. Ability to align department goals with overall business goals. Creative and innovative thinker. Experience in managing crisis communications and high-stakes media relations. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently with initiative. The anticipated base salary for this position is
$202,000-$230,000 . This role may qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors including qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location. Sony Pictures Entertainment is an equal opportunity employer.
