We are looking for an Apparel Designer with 2+ years of experience for our retail client. It will be a 5-6 month engagement. It will be a hybrid role (onsite Monday-Wednesday) based in Portland, OR with full-time hours. You will be responsible for executing the quarterly design process for the assigned line category, from concept to delivery. You will work closely with Senior Apparel Designer on creative and productdevelopment to execute trends, as developed by the creative director, that meet market needs and drive sales by ensuring timely execution of each stage in the process.
RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Apparel Design related discipline or combination of relevant education and experienceProficient in PLM, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, InDesignSketching and design experience with sewing techniques, pattern constructionKnowledge of silhouettes, fabrications, construction techniques, fit and trimExperience in developing/identifying seasonal trends and creating story and mood boardSkilled in InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, CAD, flat sketching skills, and technical packagesAbility to communicate details relating to all aspects of garments with suppliersKnowledge of fabric construction performance, and processing and treatments relevant to assigned categoryProficient in Microsoft OfficeExcellent oral/written communicationRequirements
Execute and partner with the Senior Apparel Designer to create a line/category that is on trend, sell-able and upholds the brand integrityKeep abreast of the current industry, design, and apparel trendsDesign by translating inspiration/creative ideas into a viable, profitable, and marketable productSupport design process from initial sketch to production on assigned categoryPrepare line and presentation materials for line reviews and buyer meetingsBe prepared with proto samples, store-bought samples, fabric swatches, sketches, and tears during development meetingsSupervise and coach direct reports on the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reportsManage seasonal line sheets within the PLM system and maintain records so line sheets are updated and correct for product line selectionApprove fabric samples, lab dips, and other development materials sent from factories; work collaboratively with internal material management teams to provide feedback and clear and concise direction to execute approvals properlyReview weekly sales and budgeted financial goals, discuss and make recommendations via weekly meetings for assigned categoryAttend fit sessions with Senior Apparel Designer, product development, and technical design teams to maintain the design aestheticSupport Senior Apparel Designer with fabric selections; collaborate with the product development team to ensure accurate information is communicated to vendors for sourcingReview design samples and communicate changes for timely project completionCreate technical flats of designs with accurate construction callouts, selection of raw materials and colors, manage development of Bill of Materials (BOM) data integrity, and communicate design details to Technical Designers on assigned categoryInterpret fashion, market trends, and competitive product offerings on assigned product category to understand the overall market; identify opportunities relevant to our productJuggle multiple projects simultaneously while developing strong relationships with merchandising teamsStay up to date on the design and development schedule to ensure timely completionMust be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $ 25.00 to $ 35.00 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. Additional benefits offered may include; medical health insurance and dental insurance, life insurance, and eligibility to participate in a 401k plan with company match.
