Skybound is looking for an inventive and ambitious Technical Designer to help build an exciting, character-focused game franchise. As a Technical Designer, you'll work closely with all disciplines to create innovative gameplay systems, mechanics, features, and tools. The ideal candidate will be passionate about bringing amazing gameplay and player empowerment from concept to completion.
As a Technical Designer, you will collaborate with all disciplines to solidify pipelines, workflows, and processes to help our team achieve the vision of the project. You will work in UE5, design tools, and scripting systems to implement, test, refine, polish and tune gameplay systems, mechanics, and features. As a team member, you will work constantly to foster an inclusive, empowering environment, always focused on delivering player fun. This position will report to the Game Director of Skybound Game Studios
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Write script code for various gameplay elements.Collaborate with team members from all subject areas to drive implementation of core game mechanics and project design infrastructure.Architect and build design systems, features, tools, workflows, and framework for efficient content implementation.Help develop standards for design content creation and advocate standard processes to the team.Proactively seek out and resolve bottlenecks to improve efficiency and empower the design team to build outstanding high-quality and bug-free content.Act as a strong quality advocate for team, crafting content that is AAA quality and helping others on the team achieve the same high quality.Become a resource of knowledge for other team members to query on the inner workings of the game and engine.Become an expert at all implementation aspects of the game and engine, able to tackle any issue large or small.Track-down complicated logic issues and design sustainable solutions.Regularly play the game, providing constructive feedback and suggestions.Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Technical Designer or Senior Technical Designer with at least 1 shipped AAA title.Experience with text-based scripting, visual scripting, and programming languages.A team-player mindset, understanding the importance of collaboration, and able to communicate effectively with all disciplines and departments.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.Self-sufficient and self-motivated, able to push something forward but also knows when to ask for guidance or help.Knowledge of modern game engine tools and pipelines such as Unreal Engine 5.Knowledge of art packages such as Maya, Max, and the Adobe suite a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.A player-first perspective to developing a refined gameplay experience.Knowledge of gameplay mechanics across a wide variety of genres.Job Type:
