Olympic-Sized Deal:

M&C Saatchi PR has been named the first-ever agency of record for the United States Olympic Committee.

The firm’s team, led by Sandra Carreon-John, SVP, will manage several major events leading up to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi including the 2014 media summit and the 100 days out celebration. M&C Saatchi PR will lead a campaign that highlights the organization’s vast fundraising efforts with a focus on increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of funding to a successful Team USA (which receives no money from the federal government).

Karlsson’s Vodka, the world’s only producer of spirits made from single-distilled and unfiltered expressions of virgin new potatoes, selected multi-service communications agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide (WE) to promote the Swedish company’s vodka to the North American beverage industry. Karlsson’s Vodka selected WE for its ability to leverage social, digital marketing, creative and communications talent to deliver an integrated campaign for master blender Börje Karlsson’s creations.

Healthcare PR firm Revive has added two new clients to its roster: InVivoLink, a data provider for doctors and hospitals performing orthopedic implant procedures, and NaviHealth, a company that partners with insurance providers and other health systems for payment services associated with “post-acute” care. KCI Technologies, an engineering and construction services firm, has chosen Environics Communications for traditional media relations, social media outreach, and to organize speaking engagements.

Roll Call: Obama Campaign, Horn Group, Edelman, and More

Former press secretary Robert Gibbs is once again working with President Obama, having just signed a contract to officially serve as a consultant on Obama’s reelection campaign. Gibbs has been working “unofficially” with the reelection effort for some time now. He will continue with public speaking engagements, TV appearances, and other work as well. [via Politico]

Horn Group‘s Ben Billingsley has been promoted to partner. Billingsley joined the firm as a VP in 2006, focused on digital. In his new position, he will lead and manage the firm’s New York office. He has worked with clients including Gannett, Adify, and NBC.

David Chamberlain is rejoining Edelman as EVP and GM of the firm’s Dallas office, effective February 13. He previously worked as GM of Edelman’s Shanghai office before leaving for MSLGroup in 2007. He opened that firm’s Dallas office and served as SVP and director  of the issues and crisis group for North America. At Edelman, he’ll report to Helen Vollmer, president of the Southwest region.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has chosen Waggener Edstrom to redesign the nonprofit’s national website and those of its 62 chapters. Besides branding and information-sharing, the site will offer enhanced ways for people to connect with one another nationwide.

Celebrity dog groomer and stylist Jorge Bendersky has chosen Whitegate PR as his AOR. Bendersky has appeared on a number of programs including the Today show and his own Animal Planet program in 2008.

GolinHarris has added two new clients to its roster out West. BillFloat, a financial service company that helps consumers who are having trouble paying their bills, has chosen GH as its AOR. The firm will provide consumer and trade media outreach and help in the public affairs area. And Southern California’s University of Redlands has chosen the firm for media outreach (national and regional). Both accounts will be handled out of GH’s Orange County office.

Unruly, a video advertising company that works across YouTube, Facebook, and other social networks, has chosen The Morris + King Company as AOR. The firm will work on an integrated PR campaign.

Subaru of America has chosen MWW Group as its AOR. MWW consumer marketing teams in New York and Los Angeles will lead the account, with help from Dialogue Digital, the firm’s social media and digital team. Subaru won an Edmunds.com marketing award earlier this year with Carmichael Lynch and spoke with us in June about the importance of PR to its business.

Trilliant, a company specializing in utilities and energy efficiency, has chosen Edelman as its global AOR. Clean energy teams in Atlanta and Silicon Valley will be leading the account.

HP’s Personal Systems Group out of China has shifted its $1.5 million account from Burson-Marsteller to Edelman, The Holmes Report writes. Edelman already works with the HP division in the EMEA region, North America, and other parts of Asia.

Appleton Learning, a test preparation and tutoring service, has chosen Trevelino/Keller for PR services to raise the profile of the company’s 24-year-old chief executive Glenn Clayton with consumer and business media. The company also has plans to add a franchise division and to expand across the Southeast, and eventually, nationwide.

Ruder Finn‘s new business unit Finn Partners has added Marsh Inc, an insurance broker and risk adviser for thought leadership and executive outreach services in the U.S. Finn Partners managing partner Alicia Young will lead the account out of the New York office.
