The typical starting salary for this position is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, acquired skills, experience, education, and certifications/designations. This position may be eligible for annual merit increases and participation in our bonus program.

Columbia Insurance Group is seeking an associate Web Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in web development and a basic understanding of technologies such as Node.js, React, AWS services (DynamoDB, Lambda), Git, Java, and Agile methodologies. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to kick-start their careers in web development within the insurance industry. This position reports to our home office in Columbia, MO and has the opportunity to work fully remote or participate in the hybrid work program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with the development team to learn all aspects of the Full Stack Developer position including, but not limited to: design, develop, and maintain web applications using Node.js, React, and Java.Assist in the implementation and integration of RESTful APIs, microservices, and third-party services to enhance application functionality.Learn and contribute to the optimization of database structures and queries using AWS DynamoDB or similar NoSQL databases.Gain exposure to AWS Lambda functions for serverless architecture and event-driven programming.Contribute to the implementation of automated testing and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to ensure software quality and deployment efficiency.Participate in troubleshooting and debugging activities, under the guidance of more experienced developers, to identify and resolve issues.Collaborate with team members to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and Agile development methodologies.Continuously learn and stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in web development and the insurance domain.Participate in the production support rotation which includes but is not limited to: analyzing problems, troubleshooting code, developing a solution, and reviewing with more experienced developers.Review, code and implement complex program requirements developed by Analysis Services team members.Participate in testing by preparing test data, running tests and evaluate and debug results.Maintain secure development techniques, taking appropriate action where necessary.Adhere to development standards, guidelines and object modeling criteria.Document development steps for audit and backup purposes.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Basic understanding of web development concepts and technologies which may include one or more of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, React.Familiarity with version control systems like Git and basic collaborative development workflows.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Passion for continuous learning and professional growth.Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Java programming language and related frameworks.Familiarity with AWS services, particularly DynamoDB and Lambda.Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
