‘Today’ Anchors Throw Savannah Guthrie a Baby Shower

Savannah Guthrie‘s “Today” show colleagues — Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Tamron Hall and Natalie Morales — threw the expecting mom a baby shower last week at The Glass Houses in Chelsea. NBC’s Kentucky Derby Plans

This afternoon thousands of dapper people will file into Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. They will sip mint juleps, wear funny hats and make “trifecta” wagers after pretending to read the book on handicapping.

Yes, the Kentucky Derby is here, and NBC, which paid good money for the TV rights, is planning wide-ranging coverage, including contributions from NBC News and The Weather Channel.

Al Roker was at Churchill Friday for a “Today” segment, as well as “Wake Up with Al” on Weather Channel. His colleague Stephanie Abrams will continue coverage on Weather Saturday morning. “Today” correspondent Dylan Dreyer will report from the hallowed grounds on Saturday and Sunday, previewing and recapping the event, respectively. Brian Schachtman, CNBC’s sports business reporter, filed reports from Churchill Friday, and will continue all day today.

E! news is also planning coverage. The fancy hats may cover people’s heads, but they won;t cover themselves, you know.

It’s Official: Erica Hill Named ‘Weekend Today’ Co-Anchor

NBC News has made it official: former “CBS This Morning” co-anchor Erica Hill will be joining Lester Holt as the co-anchor of “Weekend Today.” Hill will also serve as a national correspondent for NBC News, reporting for all of its platforms.

In addition, NBC has named Jenna Wolfe newsreader for “Weekend Today,” and she will continue to contribute as a correspondent to the weekday edition of the morning program. Wolfe had been co-anchor of the Sunday edition of the program. Dylan Dreyer will remain in her role as weather anchor for the program.

“I couldn’t be happier to have such a strong team in place with Lester, Erica, Jenna and Dylan,” said Dee Dee Thomas, executive producer of ‘Weekend Today’ in a statement. “We just celebrated¬†25 years of weekends here at TODAY, and this is the perfect ensemble to lead us towards our next milestone.”

Dylan Dreyer Joins ‘Today’ as Weekend Weather Anchor

As TVSpy reported last month, there is a new face joining the weekend edition of “Today.” Dylan Dreyer begins Saturday as the program’s weather anchor.

Dreyer comes from WHDH, the NBC affiliate in Boston, where she has been the morning meteorologist since 2007. Her new role will also include providing weekend weather reports on MSNBC.

“Today” has been without a weekend weather anchor since Janice Huff signed off in April.
