Tom Mazzarelli Joins CBS’ The Early Show

After a stint at the Today show and after launching Fox’s “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet,” Tom Mazzarelli is joining CBS News as senior producer for The Early Show. Mazzarelli launched “Mike and Juliet” serving as executive producer of the program until last year. Before that Mazarrelli was a senior producer for the Today show from 2003-2006.

Tom Mazzarelli has been named a senior producer for THE EARLY SHOW, it was announced by Paul Friedman, Senior Vice President, News Gathering, CBS News. The appointment is effective immediately.

Mazzarelli comes to CBS News from Twentieth Television (2006-2007) where he launched the syndicated morning broadcast “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet” and served as executive producer of the program.

Prior to his position at Twentieth Television, Mazzarelli was a senior producer with NBC’s “Today Show” (2003-2006), where he started as a producer (2000-2003). While working with the morning program, he covered news events such as the 2000 presidential election and 9/11, among others. And during his time as senior producer the broadcast won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Morning Program (2006). Before that, Mazzarelli was a producer for a number of MSNBC prime-time programs, including “Hardball” and “The Big Show with Keith Olbermann” (1997-2000). While there he covered major stories such the Clinton Impeachment, the 1998 mid-term elections, and the deaths of Princess Diana and JFK Jr.

He began his career as a researcher with CNN’s “Larry King Live,” (1994-1996).

He was graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and attended the masters program in communications at the State University of New York at Albany
