Chris Riva Joins WCPO as Morning Anchor

Chris Riva _wcpoCincinnati ABC affiliate WCPO announced the addition of Chris Riva as co-anchor of “Good Morning Tri-State.”

“We conducted a national search for the right person, and Chris was the perfect fit for the team,” Jeff Brogan, WCPO VP and GM said in a statement. “He was born and raised here and understands the significance of this in telling a community story.”

Riva comes to WCPO from KCRA in Sacramento, CA. He has also worked in Denver, Green Bay, WI, and Dayton, OH.

He begins co-anchoring with Kathrine Nero on April 21.

WCCO Adds Kim Johnson as Saturday Morning Anchor

kim Johnson_wccoWCCO isn’t done making moves. In addition to bringing back Jason Matheson, the Minneapolis CBS owned station has also hired Kim Johnson as its Saturday morning anchor.

According to the Pioneer Press, Johnson will join WCCO from KTVX in Salt Lake City on May 12.

She replaces Aristea Brady, who left the station earlier this month.

Sheinelle Jones Leaving WTXF for Her Kids

Sheinelle Jones, co-anchor of “Good Morning Philadelphia” said goodbye to viewers last week.

“At the end of this month, after almost 9 years here, I am leaving Good Day to go be with my kids,” Jones told viewers on Friday’s “Good Day.”

Jones joined FOX owned Philadelphia station WTXF in 2005 as a general assignment reporter. Before coming to WTXF she worked at KOKI in Tulsa, OK. She has also worked at WICS in Springfield, IL.

A FOX spokesperson told TVSpy, Jones’ last day will be March 28.

Jeremy Miller Returning to WSTM


Syracuse NBC affiliate WSTM has announced Jeremy Miller will return to “Today in Central New York.”

Miller was a traffic report for the Syracuse NBC affiliate from 2010 until 2012. He also anchored the WTVH “Morning News on the Go.”

“My family and I are so excited to return to Syracuse! I can’t wait to be back in the studio with Lisa Spitz and Peter Hall,” Miller said in a statement. “We’re going to have a great time on Today in Central New York! It’s an amazing feeling to be reunited with family and friends.”

He last worked at the Family Life Network in Bath, NY. He starts at WSTM the first week in April.

WKRC Adds Sheila Gray to Morning Team

gray_croppedCincinnati CBS affiliate WKRC has announced the addition of Sheila Gray to its morning news team.

Gray is a familiar face to Cincinnati viewers. She left Cincinnati FOX affiliate WXIX in August 2013 after turning down a contract offer and was named special correspondent for Sinclair Broadcasting one week later.

WKRC news director Kirk Varner said in a statement, “We are so pleased to have this opportunity to bring one of Cincinnati’s favorite morning anchors back home to become part of the market’s number one morning news team, right here at Local 12.”

Gray will co-anchor Good Morning Cincinnati from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. with John Lomax. She will join Bob Herzog on the 7:00 a.m. show on MyTV affiliate WSTR.

Mike Dunston Leaving WEWS

MikeDunston_WEWSWEWS morning anchor Mike Dunston has announced he’s leaving the Cleveland ABC affiliate.

“After more than two years at WEWS, it’s with a heavy heart that I’m sharing with you that my last day at the station will be March 7th,” Dunston wrote on his facebook page. “I want to thank the Northeast Ohio community for their kind words and support. See ya at the next Cavs game!”

Dunston started working at WEWS in 2011. According to his station bio, he has also worked at WOFL in Orlando, FL, The Washington Post and stations in Houston, Washington, D.C., Raleigh and Dayton, OH.

Anchor Names Every US President During Newscast


WLNS morning anchor Evan Pinsonnault managed to drop the name of every US President into the Lansing, MI, CBS affiliate’s morning show yesterday.

WTVC Launches Weekend Morning Newscast

lauren st germainChattanooga ABC affiliate WTVC has named an anchor team for its weekend morning newscast, which will launch next month: anchor Lauren St. Germain (pictured), meteorologist Jason Disharoon and reporter Betsy Goldin.

“We waited to expand Good Morning Chattanooga on Saturday and Sunday until we could do it right – right in terms of staffing, right in terms of resources,” general manager Mike Costa said in a statement. “To do that, it means expanding our news staff – to have a dedicated team focused on producing a weekend morning newscast that will be fresh and useful. That’s what we’ve done: a great new team, for a great new show.”

St. Germain joins WTVC from WTVY in Dothan, Ala., where she anchored the 9 p.m. newscast. Goldin most recently worked at WJHG in Panama City, Fla., where she was a producer and reporter on the noon newscast. Disharoon, currently WTVC’s weekend meteorologist, has worked at the station since 2011,

Cincinnati Anchor Leaving to be With Husband in SF Bay Area

wilson_wkrcWKRC morning anchor Tiffany Wilson has announced she’s leaving the Cincinnati CBS affiliate.

“For three years, my husband and I have commuted across time zones juggling careers we both love,” said Wilson. “After more than 50 cross-country flights, we feel it is time to be together.”

Wilson started at WKRC in 2010.

WKRC GM Jon Lawhead said in a statement, “While we are sorry to see her leave, we know that she and Matt certainly deserve to be living happily together in the same city. Of course, we wish that could be Cincinnati, but our loss is the Bay Area’s gain.”

Her last day will be March 7.
