KNXV in Phoenix to Launch 11 a.m. Newscast in July

KNXV, the ABC-affiliate in Phoenix, will launch an 11 a.m. newscast on July 9.

The hour-long weekday newscast will be staffed by the KNXV morning team — anchors Connie Colla and Kirk Yuhnke, along with weather anchor Amy Murphy and traffic reporter Brandon Hamilton.

“We appreciate the opportunity and the trust given to us to make sure we deliver the news that’s important to our community,” Colla said in a statement.

Weathercaster Amy Murphy Joins KNXV in Phoenix

KNXV, the ABC-affiliate in Phoenix, has hired local television veteran Amy Murphy as a weather anchor.

The move is a return to Phoenix for Murphy, who worked at NBC-affiliate KPNX before moving to Los Angeles, where she worked in various capacities for three stations — KTTV, KCAL and KCBS — until 2009. For the past two years, she has been working in corporate communications.

Murphy, who started this week, joins the weekend morning newscast.

On the Move, 11/4/11

Amy Murphy, a weathercaster at KTTV in Los Angeles, is joining KNXV in Phoenix.

Former KDFW anchor Erika Castillo is joining KFOX in El Paso as the primetime anchor.

Seth Kovar, who is the morning and midday anchor at KXXV in Waco, moves to WDBJ in Roanoake, where he will be the morning anchor and managing editor.

Former WISH assistant news director Andrew Gillfillian joins Detroit’s WDIV as an executive producer.
