Dan Kain Retiring After 26 Years at WFSB

Reporter Dan Kain is signing off from WFSB after more than 25 years at the Hartford CBS affiliate, according to The Laurel.

Kain joined the station in October 1987. His last day will be June 7.

“In editorial meetings, so often Dan is our ‘tie-breaker’ when we are deciding the merits of a story. He is smart and funny and can see a story for what it is … or (even better) isn’t,” news director Dana Neves told The Laurel. “If you are lucky, really lucky you get to tell people you worked alongside one the “greats”.  We are all so lucky to be able to say that we worked with the great Dan Kain.”

Anchor Denise D’Ascenzo Marks 25 Years with WFSB

WFSB anchor Denise D’Ascenzo celebrated a major milestone last week: on Friday, she marked her 25th anniversary with the Hartford CBS-affiliate.

D’Ascenzo joined WFSB on March 19, 1986 and has been a consistent presence at the station’s anchor desk ever since.

“She is the longest serving female anchor at one station in the market,” points out Dana Neves, WFSB’s news director. “That is just unheard of these days.”

D’Ascenzo currently anchors WFSB’s 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. newscasts. During her time with the station, she has won six Emmys and seven Associated Press awards.
