Mike Garber Named News Director at Dallas Station

ktvt logo_304x200Mike Garber has been named VP and news director for Dallas-Fort Worth CBS owned stations KTVT and KTXA.

“I am pleased to be joining the smart and experienced team at CBS 11 and TXA 21,” Garber said in a statement. “My new colleagues have long done a terrific job of putting the community first, and I look forward to making sure that we keep that focus and provide the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the highest quality local news coverage in the market.”

Garber was rumored to have left WPTV in West Palm Beach, FL, last week. He had been news director there since 2012. He has also worked as news director at WTLV-WJXX in Jacksonville, FL, and WLTX in Columbia, SC.

KTVT Operations to Move Into ‘CBS Tower’

KTVT, the CBS owned station for Dallas-Fort Worth, will move its newsroom and advertising sales offices into a new home that will be called “CBS Tower” on Monday.

“We’re extremely pleased with our new space and the visibility this will provide our stations,” said KTVT and KTXA (Ind.) president and general manager Gary Schneider. “In addition, the tower’s proximity to both Central Expressway and LBJ Freeway is key for our Dallas operation.”

The new headquarters will be on the top floor of a 13 story building which will get new signage in the next few weeks.

The station’s primary studios, technical and business operations will stay in Fort Worth.

Anchor Kaushal Patel Says Goodbye to KGTV

After three years at KGTV, anchor Kaushal Patel has left the San Diego ABC affiliate.

KGTV general manager Jeff Block told TVSpy Patel’s contract was up. He said he does not know where she is going next.

Patel anchored the morning and midday newscasts alongside Bill Griffith. Virginia Cha was named morning and midday co-anchor after Patel’s departure.

Before joining KGTV, Patel worked at CNN, KTVT-KTXA in Dallas, KOLD in Tucson and KYMA in Yuma, Ariz.
