Roger Clark, a reporter for New York’s NY1, was reporting live about the upcoming Northeast Semi-Finals for the US Air Guitar Championships. Nat Hays, GM of US Air Guitar, told Clark, “Our mission, every year, is to find the best air guitarist in America to represent our country in the World Championships in Finland.”
After one of the competitors, Mitt Umlaut (probably not his real name) gave viewers a taste of what real air guitar looked like, Clark got in on the act. His song of choice? “Tom Sawyer” by everybody’s favorite cerebral rock band Rush. Watch the video and don’t forget your lighter.
“It was very, uh, very legitimate looking,” said morning anchor Pat Kiernan after it was all over.
