Archith Seshadri Signs Off From WJBF

After three years at WJBF in Augusta, Archith Seshadri is leaving the station to join WJZY-WMYT in Charlotte.

Seshadri joined WJBF in 2010 as a digital journalist and fill-in anchor. He became the station’s weekend morning anchor in 2012.

“It’s gone by fast, and it certainly is bittersweet. I certainly will miss everybody,” Seshadri said on his last newscast (video above). “Thank you for letting me be part of this community, embracing me. I’m so grateful.”

Jim Himes Named General Manager at WGHP

wghp logoJim Himes has been named president and general manager of WGHP, Local TV’s Fox affiliate in Greensboro, N.C., Broadcasting & Cable reports.

Himes joins WGHP from WREG, Local TV’s CBS affiliate in Memphis, Tenn., where he was station manager since 2011 and general sales manager since 2007.

“Jim is one of a kind,” Local TV CEO Bobby Lawrence said in a statement. “The enthusiasm and commitment he brings to this business is unrivaled. We’ll certainly miss him in Memphis, but he’s a great fit for WGHP. We couldn’t be happier for him.”

At WGHP, Himes replaces Karen Adams, who left the station to run WJZY-WMYT, Fox’s newly-acquired duopoly in Charlotte.

Geoff Roth Named VP of Local Content at WJZY-WMYT

Geoff Roth has been named vice president of local content at WJZY-WMYT, Fox’s duopoly in Charlotte. His appointment is effective July 8.

“Geoff is a solid journalist and news leader with a proven track record of innovation in news gathering and content presentation. He is committed to our mission of serving our 22 counties in North and South Carolina and providing a voice for our communities,” VP-GM Karen Adams said in a statement. “Geoff is the perfect choice to lead FOX 46 Carolinas News.”

Roth comes from another Fox O&O, KRIV in Houston, where he was an executive producer. He has worked as a news director at KSEE and KMPH in Fresno, WFTX in Fort Myers, KSWB in San Diego, KSTU in Salt Lake City and WRIC in Richmond.

“Being able to build a next generation digital news operation from the ground up in a growing market like Charlotte is a unique opportunity,” Roth said. “I am looking forward to utilizing the latest technology across multiple platforms to keep our viewers constantly informed on relevant news of the day.”

Fox Names Council Bradshaw VP of Creative Services at WJZY-WMYT

Council Bradshaw has been named vice president of creative services for WJZY-WMYT, Fox’s anticipated duopoly in Charlotte. His appointment is effective May 28.

Bradshaw has been principal partner and chief director of photography for DejaView Media in Greensboro, N.C. since 2006. Before that, he was vice president of creative services for WGHP in Greensboro. The move reunites him with WJZY-WMYT general manager Karen Adams, who worked at WGHP until joining Fox earlier this year.

“His creativity, vision and drive will help build the platform for news and marketing innovations for the market we serve,” Adams said of Bradshaw in announcing the hire.

Fox Makes Key Appointments at WJZY-WMYT

Fox has made two executive appointments at anticipated Charlotte duopoly WJZY-WMYT. Jay Abbattista will be vice president of sales and Lynda Grahl will be vice president of finance.

Both Abbattista and Grahl come from Fox O&Os. Abbattista, who will begin on April 29, was previously the local sales manager at Fox-owned WTTG in Washington, D.C. He has also worked at a previous Fox O&O, WBRC in Birmingham, as general sales manager.

“Jay has a proven track record of success, having worked in a variety of sales positions across many markets,” VP-GM Karen Adams said in a statement. “His drive and passion made him the ideal candidate; I am delighted to welcome him to our team.”

Grahl, who begins on April 22, has been the vice president finance for Fox’s Detroit O&O, WJBK, since 2008.

“My family and I are very excited to be moving to the Charlotte community; I can’t wait to begin working with the team at our duopoly stations,” Grahl said.
