Event planning is an important component of marketing and public relations. Events have the power to build consumer awareness and create a connection to brands that other channels can't match. Each production takes months of planning and strategy.

Learn how to create successful events from conception to completion. You'll discover how to think, plan, problem solve, and produce like a professional event planner. We'll follow the process of planning an event from beginning to end.

In this class, you will learn how to:

  • Create press releases, event summaries, timelines, and budgets
  • Practice and fine-tune your organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Develop invitations, advertisements, calendar listings, and media alerts
  • Think creatively to build strategic collaborations
  • Write event recaps and evaluate successful events
  • Create effective pitches and concepts to attract new business

Instructor

Nicole Halton
Nicole Halton is director of conference planning and special events for ABC Television, where she organizes over 75 events annually. Her events have included ABC Sales Upfront, the Disney Camp Rock 2 premiere event, the ABC Daytime Casino Party, ABC Family Screening events, and Super Soap Weekend at Walt Disney World.

She previously served as events director at SPARTY!, a full service event marketing company that creates and executes custom spa experiences. There, she planned events for clients including Shaquille O'Neal, Vogue magazine, The Emmy Awards, and Access Hollywood. She also worked at GM R* Works, the exclusive sales promotion agency of General Motors, where she worked events with world class properties and sponsors including the NCAA, NFL, PGA, NBA, NASCAR, MLB, Tribeca Film Festival, Essence Music Festival, Fashion Rocks, and the ESPY Awards.
