Gawker loses editor-in-chief John Cook. He's going to join Pierre Omidyar's First Look Media as EIC of The Intercept, the digital magazine. Cook had been with Gawker since 2009, although he briefly jumped to Yahoo in 2010. He'll now work with Glenn Greenwald and also Matt Taibbi, who came to First Look to launch his own site/magazine that uses his own personal brand of outrage to target corporate evildoers. Max Read will take over as editor of Gawker, which also recently lost viral guru Neetzan Zimmerman. Nick Denton, no doubt, will restaff almost immediately...

Sharyl Attkisson leaves CBS News, where she had been investigative correspondent. The two parties had been in contract negotiations for several months, but they ultimately came to naught. Attkisson, who is working on a book called Stonewalled: One Reporter's Fight for Truth in Obama's Washington, had been with the network for more than two decades. She called her time there "one of life's great privileges."... Jamie Gangel leaves NBC News. She has been national correspondent for the past two decades and with the network for 31 years... Alisyn Camerota says goodbye to Fox News. “It’s been a dream to work with all of you. I’ve learned from your example and talent,” the 16-year veteran wrote of her colleagues in a goodbye note... Anne Sweeney, president of the Disney/ABC Television Group, is leaving the company in January. "The past 18 years at Disney have been the highlight of my executive career," Sweeney said in a statement. She is leaving to become a director. Her departure will come three months before Bob Iger steps down as CEO of Disney where he will remain executive chairman.

ESPN expands its foray into content beyond sports. Exit 31 is the name of the unit led by senior vice president Marie Donoghue that will contain ESPN Films, Grantland and FiveThirtyEight. Two of the company's biggest names – Bill Simmons and Nate Silver – will report to Donogue... CQ Roll Call recruits Bloomberg's David Ellis as vice president of news. He had been editor-at-large in the Washington bureau for Bloomberg since 2011. Additionally, CQ Roll Call director of legal products Benton Ives takes over as EIC of CQ Weekly... Al-Moniter poaches The Hill's stable, recruiting Julian Pecquet as Congressional correspondent. He had been Global Affairs blogger... Dr. Mark Funkhouser is the new publisher of Governing. The former mayor of Kansas City has been director of the Governing Institute... Working Mother promotes Kim Sealy to publisher. She had been Eastern advertising director there... Seeking Alpha snags Katherine Divney away from The Wall Street Journal Digital Network. She'll be vice president of sales... Redbook loses associate publisher Robyn Mait Levine to Peppercomm. She's the new senior director of content strategy and development... And there are changes at Essence, Time and more...
