<title>Sea World Taps Draftfcb</title>

<p>Time for some good news on the DFCB NY front. After a review, the amusement park brand known as Sea World (here&#8217;s to you, Shamu) has picked said agency as its new creative AOR. DFCB NY takes over for Momentum on the Orlando-based company&#8217;s account and is expected to roll our work for Sea World next year. In a statement, company president/CEO <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Jim-Atchison-profile.html">Jim Atchison</a></strong> says, “We’re excited to tap into the creative and strategic firepower at Draftfcb, as well as their in-depth knowledge of moms and families, to expand recognition of our parks as must-see destinations. We are investing in an extraordinary level of capital expansion and, together with Draftfcb, will cultivate a new level of global consumer awareness for our company.”</p>
<p>From what we hear from sources, Doner might have also been in the mix for Sea World, which has spent about $50 million in measured media.</p>

<title>Designer Graffiti-Tags CP+B Twitter Feed in Job Stunt</title>

<p>From here, 2010 seems like a much simpler time. Back then, jobs at marquee agencies could be attained by <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy/yrs-alec-brownstein-and-ian-reichanthal-talk-google-ad-gimmick_b6490">Google AdWords bids</a> that targeted ad execs with a penchant for Google-ing themselves. While <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Alec-Brownstein-profile.html">Alec Brownstein</a></strong>&#8216;s digital stunt landed him at Y&amp;R NY, many others who have followed in his tech-savvy footsteps have fallen short. But, one graphic designer&#8217;s recent job-seeking stunt is so utterly bizarre that it might inspire a whole new class of young ad professionals who seek creative respite beyond the typical portfolio, resume and cover letter trio.</p>
<p>Inspired by the late <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/JeanMichel-Basquiat-profile.html">Jean-Michel Basquiat</a></strong>&#8216;s SAMO style of street art, wherein key words and phrases are repeated throughout various artworks, graphic designer Shaun Gibson is hoping to attract the attention of CP+B by using the agency&#8217;s website Twitter feed as his own personal camera. In the image above, you&#8217;ll see that Gibson repeatedly uses the phrase &#8220;Van Skin&#8221; when he posts, establishing his virtual alter-ego while utilizing the fact that CP+B&#8217;s Twitter feed automatically pulls in any and all mentions of the agency. Along with the Twitter takeover, Gibson is supporting his campaign by creating <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/James-Victore-profile.html">James Victore</a></strong>-<a href="http://www.jamesvictore.com/">inspired</a> images using the Van Skin tag, like the one below.</p>

<p>In addition, Gibson tells us, &#8220;The last part, and while I am not expert with video, I was planning to close this campaign out with a few youtube videos with a mock testimonial and maybe a mock ad then reveal who I am. Needless to say if the blogs pick this up I probably wont need to reveal myself, you will do it for me. <p>There was a time, not so long ago, that the networks held back some surprises for some buzz to be made from the actual Upfront presentations.  The events meant something, whether it was an announcement of a surprise renewal or cancellation, a new star joining the network family, or just a major timeslot change.</p>
<p>These days, announcements are made to the press over the weekend.  The events are basically just a way to pay Coldplay their legally binding royalty fees for using their song all week.  You can even find clips of the new shows released in advance of the presentations.  If this trend continues, in ten years the Upfronts may just consist of a login code to get in and a Groupon free drink deal as the after party.</p>

<title>Cubes: Check Out IPG&#8217;s CMO Desk of the Future</title>

<p>Now that we&#8217;ve covered a couple of WPP units in <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy/cubes-an-inside-look-at-greys-nyc-headquarters_b23560" target="_blank">Grey</a> and<a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy/cubes-an-inside-look-at-jwt_b22452" target="_blank"> JWT</a>, let&#8217;s move on to another holding company, shall we? In this episode of &#8220;Cubes,&#8221; we tour the worldwide headquarters of <a href="http://www.mediabrandsww.com/" target="_blank">IPG Mediabrands</a>, the media holding company responsible for $34 billion in global revenue from advertising agencies such as Universal McCann.  IPG&#8217;s work includes the Geico Gecko and Volkswagen&#8217;s pint-sized Darth Vader.</p>
<p>The IPG headquarters is home to a cutting-edge media lab full of <em>Minority Report</em>-esque marketing technology, and the office includes a high-tech workspace dubbed &#8220;the desk of the future&#8221; and a skyway stretching over 32nd Street that was once used by the Gimbels department story, the building&#8217;s previous tenant.</p>

<title>Tribal, Clorox Part Ways?</title>

<p>Tipsters have been buzzing over the last few hours that Tribal DDB and Clorox&#8217;s relationship has come to an end. Tribal would not comment on the matter, but their relationship spans a few years, with the agency&#8217;s San Francisco office handling said client&#8217;s brands including Glad and Tilex. One tipster alleges that Tribal SF&#8217;s San Fran staff will now be absorbed by the DDB network, but once we find out more, we&#8217;ll let you know. We&#8217;ve also reached out to Clorox itself, so stay tuned if need be.</p>

<p>And in as the world turns news, a week after we reported that <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Marty-Cooke-profile.html">Marty Cooke</a></strong> <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy/yep-marty-cooke-did-leave-rapp_b32742" target="_blank">left the agency</a> now known as RAPP, word come through that husband/wife team Wayne and <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Kim-Pick-profile.html">Kim Pick</a></strong> were named executive creative directors of its New York office.The Picks have transferred from RAPP&#8217;s New Zealand branch, which handled accounts such as Adidas, VW, Häagen Dazs, Hewlett-Packard, Olay, McDonald’s and Nike, among others.</p>

Damn you, Drago. For those interested, you have four tracks from the godfather of soul to choose from, create a full-length video around it and June 25 to complete it. <p>Those rapscallions at Boulder-based TDA are at it again, this time launching a new campaign for Sir Richard&#8217;s, the condom brand that kicked off its launch by giving us<a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy/campaign-message-babies-cost-a-fortune_b11102" target="_blank"> wild postings in NYC </a>nearly 18 months ago and is now honoring National Women&#8217;s Health Week with &#8220;Vagina Rules.&#8221; To be specific, TDA&#8217;s effort calls on the ladies to offer &#8220;rules about what they won&#8217;t put in their vagina&#8221; to raise awareness for the lesser-known chemicals that are often found in condoms and lubricant, including spermicide, parabens, and glycerin. <title>Wing Creatives Encourage Hispanic-American Advertisers to Stick Together</title>

<p>&#8220;Circulo Creativo Latino de Estados Unidos” is an organization that seeks to increase and foster interaction between US-based Hispanic creatives. This year, the CCLEU held a competition that asked young creatives to create a PSA of sorts encouraging eligible members to join the organization, with the winning entry earning its creators an all-expenses paid trip to the Cannes Lions Festival.</p>
<p>The winning entry (above) comes from art director <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Said-Fayad-profile.html">Said Fayad</a></strong> and copywriter <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Marc-Duran-profile.html">Marc Duran</a></strong>, two employees at Wing, a WPP-owned subsidiary of Grey that specializes in work that targets a Latino audience. &#8220;We&#8217;re Better Together&#8221; is a phrase contrasted with probably the worse piece of three-word advice any movie character can take, the infamous &#8220;let&#8217;s split up.&#8221; Maybe best made fun of in <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Joss-Whedon-profile.html">Joss Whedon</a></strong>&#8216;s recent horror/satire <em>Cabin in the Woods</em>, &#8220;let&#8217;s split up&#8221; never works out for the would-be victims of film.</p>
<p>Sure, one could argue that Fayad&#8217;s and Duran&#8217;s spot&#8217;s effectiveness relies on borrowed interest from the various films and TV shows it features. But, for pop-culture and horror movie buffs (I&#8217;m looking at you, Kiran), identifying where each clip originates is what makes &#8220;We&#8217;re Better Together&#8221; so much fun.</p>
