One-click shopping could soon be coming to Twitter via a “buy now” button embedded directly into tweets, allowing users to purchase products directly from the social platform and empowering brands to effectively market their products and services to a targeted audience.
First spotted by Re/code, the products shown in the images below are via a shopping application called Fancy, and were visible only on the Twitter mobile app.
Re/code notes that tapping on the buttons didn’t actually do anything, which implies that this functionality is very much in its (usual) early experimental phase at Twitter. However, Re/code also states that another user reported being able to access a checkout page within the Twitter app after clicking the button.
For what it’s worth, I visited the Twitter profile of the user in the image and was unable to view any buy button on any Twitter platform (mobile or otherwise), but this simply supports the experimental side of the feature, as it’s not something Fancy would be able to create without Twitter’s consent.
