Publicity stunt? Angry reaction? Nonsensical nonsense? All are good guesses as to why Kanye West has hit the “Delete” button on his Twitter account.
Will you miss him?
Kanye has been one of the most entertaining things to come out of Twitter, ever.
His tweets – gems like “I’ve finally realized as long as you use profanity when you talk about art and fashion it’s better accepted!!!” and “I specifically ordered persian rugs with cherub imagery!!! What do I have to do to get a simple persian rug with cherub imagery uuuuugh” – have been reenacted by kids in some pretty hilarious videos. He’s been parodied by Josh Groban for a new “album”. And, what we think is the kicker, he tried to launch a business in a series of tweets.
But all of these crazy antics are no more.
Without a word of warning, Kanye has deleted all of his past golden tweets, and left this cryptic note as the only sign he’d ever been a tweeter:
For those of you who are dismayed at the loss of Twitter-Kanye, there’s still hope: some are speculating that the message “BE BACK SOON” means this is all a publicity stunt for his upcoming album.
Kanye still has over 8,600,000 followers, and is projected to grow by between 3,000 and 4,000 in the next few days.
