Man Threatens Obama On Twitter, Receives Prison Sentence

Turns out Thumper was right: If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.”

Such was the lesson learned by one Donte Jamar Sims, a 22-year-old man sentenced to six months of prison yesterday for threatening President Obama on Twitter.

Sims, arrested back in September after the U.S. Secret Service found five threatening statements on Twitter from the handle @DestroyLeague_D, was also handed down one year of supervised release by the federal judge in Charlotte, North Carolina who heard his case.

Do you think there needs to be more interference on Twitter’s part in the case of hate-tweets like these?
