Resetting a forgotten password on Twitter has always been a pretty simple affair – all you need is full access to the email address connected to your profile.
Oh… you don’t know the password for that? Or it’s a business email that you no longer have access to? Sorry: looks like you might be in trouble.
Twitter recognises that this is a problem, and with one eye on maintaining user safety – it should never be too easy to reset a password, after all – they’ve introduced a new password reset process to make it less frustrating when you want to get back into your account.
By associating your mobile phone with your Twitter profile you can now choose to reset your password via your device, which is useful if you don’t have access to the email address on the account. Resetting via email is still an option.
You can add your mobile phone to your account in your profile settings.
