In a matchup of the nation’s number one defensive team against its offensive best, the Seattle Seahawks soundly thrashed the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl XLVIII by a score of 43-8, winning their first NFL title.

Major sporting events always receive serious attention on Twitter and the Super Bowl was no exception, racking up 24.9 million tweets – a whisker above last year’s 24.1 million – and peaking at 381,605 tweets per minute (TPM) in the third quarter.
