When you’re managing your business on social media, it’s essential that you equip yourself with the right tools to do the job. While I’m a firm believer that 90 percent of Twitter is just showing up, simply being a presence isn’t enough unless you have the platforms and apps in place to effectively measure your ROI and maximise your social strategy.
For brands and businesses, what’s the difference between social media and good, old fashioned marketing? Are platforms like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, and the features and opportunities they provide, really all that different from the tools of yesteryear?
Twitter has been notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to giving solid user numbers, but new stats from BI Intelligence shed some light on exactly how many people are tweeting, retweeting and @mentioning their hearts out on a regular basis.
Jobs involving social media have exploded in the last few years, with postings for social professionals on LinkedIn growing an incredible 1,357 percent since 2010.
Twitter has put photos front and center in its update to embedded tweets. Tweets that contain photos now have a “bigger and bold visual focus on the media” when you embed them, a boon for bloggers and publishers.
Twitter is the definitive real-time customer service tool of 2013, an unequivocal boon for business owners looking to establish conversations with customers and root out leads. The infographic below by Iquarius Media takes a look at how exactly to use Twitter effectively for your business.
@YouTube maintains its top spot as the premier brand on Twitter, with its more than 34 million followers placing it well ahead of second-placed @Instagram and even the official @Twitter profile. Social media companies continue to dominate all brands on Twitter, with six entries in the top ten, including @Facebook, which is very much on the ascent, and now ranks 6th overall amongst Twitter brands. Look for @Facebook to break into the top five soon, perhaps as early as next month.
Twitter has filed the official statement for its widely-anticipated initial public offering (IPO) to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and with the Form S-1 registration the company has unveiled a series of important statistics about the state of Twitter, both as a platform and entity, heading into their stock launch. And for the most part the numbers are pretty disappointing.
Did you know that 54 percent of recruiters and more than one-third (34 percent) of job seekers use Twitter for sourcing candidates and finding work (respectively), and that one in ten young job hunters are rejected because of something on their social media profiles? Increasingly, a single tweet could make or break your chances of getting an interview, so what steps can you take to improve your chances of landing that dream job?
A new report has unveiled social media’s continuing problem with spam, with clear and worrying trends in the numbers of spammers and spam messages being posted to the top networks very much on the rise. Indeed, the first half of 2013 saw an eye-opening 355 percent growth of social spam, with one in every seven comments made on social media sites now containing these unwanted solicitations.
