Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the Twilight movies have made an indelible mark on pop culture… a mark (or stain) that’s now spread to Twitter.
The supernatural romantic entanglements of Bella and Edward have created an army of vampire-loving teenie boppers – who have now infiltrated Twitter.
The Twilight Saga Twitter account (@Twilight) surpassed one million followers this weekend. As of the time of writing, it currently sits at 1,003,100.
Even if you’re not actually among this horde of followers yourself, you’ve no doubt noticed the cultural impact the shows have had. Beyond social media, Twilight has reinvigorated the vampire as a sex symbol (and, some would argue, set feminism back a few years).
And the folks behind this phenomenon are not unaware of their clout. They created a video to thank their fans for the million follows, which they tweeted shortly after reaching that milestone:

But all you anti-Twilight folks out there, you can probably breathe easy: it likely won’t hold the crown for the movie with the most follows for too long.
The Hunger Games (@TheHungerGames) has over 600,000 followers, and it’s only on the first movie in its three-part instalment.
