Twitter Canada Is Officially Open For Business

Twitter’s Canadian office has officially opened its doors, with managing director Kirstine Stewart at its helm.

After a month of behind-the-scenes media action and 10 new employee hires, Twitter Canada is ready to roll.

The official launch in Toronto took place last Thursday, several days after news broke of Canadian Bell Media and Twitter’s social TV research partnership.

Like Facebook’s Canadian expansion, Twitter’s Canadian office will deal mostly with advertising and sales, in contrast to Google’s strong Canadian engineering arm.

Stewart told the Canadian National Post,

“There are inherent differences, cultural differences, as to how Canadians engage with content, and I think our opportunity in being here is now we can actually explore that and learn together.”

It’ll be interesting to see what work comes out of Twitter’s newest branch.
