Twitter Hires 6.5% of its Workforce in One Swoop

Want to work at Twitter? The company is apparently on a hiring binge, having just added between 25 and 28 new employees. This brings up the total number of people working at Twitter to over 450.

Cheryl Palarca (@che) took to Twitter on Monday to announce that the company had hired 25 new employees (apparently, in honor of Lady Gaga’s 25th birthday). We’re not quite sure what positions were filled, exactly, but TechCrunch reports that at least one communications representative was brought into the flock.

Also on Monday, Twitter’s recruiting account @JoinTheFlock retweeted Mark Otto, a designer at Twitter, who said that the company had hired 28 new employees.

If that’s the case, it means that Twitter has just hired 6.5% of its total workforce in a single go.

The company now has over 450 employees – 428 are currently listed on their Employee page, and the additional 25 to 28 would bring this number up to between 453 and 456.

They’ve come a long way since the early days. Just a little over a year ago, Biz Stone announced employee number 140. Since then, they have more than tripled their workforce, bringing in engineers, designers, sales staff and more.

And they’re not stopping at 450. Twitter is still hiring, advertising over 60 open positions for support staff, engineers, business development, sales and much more.
