After quite a severe outage during a “planned deploy” yesterday which left the website unavailable for over an hour, Twitter has made a subtle change to the interface on Twitter.com and it official Twitter apps – the Connect tab has been renamed Notifications.
Here’s how it looks:
It’s a smart move. To me, Connect never really computed particularly well as it implied that an action was about to take place, and Notifications makes a lot more sense. They’ve been using the bell logo for a while on the ads platform and I guess felt it was time to sync everything up a little better.
Notifications aside, Twitter rolled back the other changes that triggered the outage yesterday – no word what they were or whether we’re likely to see them anytime soon.
