Charity Auction: Bid To Have Your Twitter Handle Tattooed On Somebody

Drew Olanoff is a writer at TechCrunch, a cancer survivor and, obviously, a tattoo-lover. And he’s auctioning off

Don’t think he’ll do it? Think again. He’s done it before (pictured to the right).

The last time he auctioned off a spot on his body (for the same cause), the highest bid was for $2,112. As a result, a marketing SVP’s Twitter handle (and name) @MelanieMitchell is tattooed on Olanoff’s arm.

Why is he doing this?

For Alex Scott – a little girl who battled and eventually succumbed to cancer. They’re from the same hometown. And Olanoff obviously wanted to make an impact to honor this little girl’s efforts, because she made (and continues to make) a big impact on many peoples’ lives.

She started a lemonade stand because she wanted to help other kids like her. And when she passed in 2004 at the age of eight, she had raised more than $1 million dollars.

And now Olanoff, who ended up battling cancer himself after he did that first tattoo, is gearing up to get the “most special tattoo ever,” with the money going directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Even if you don’t want your name tattooed on him or aren’t willing to pay more than $4,000 for the privilege, which appears to be the highest bid, you can still chip in and help raise money for a great cause.

You can read more from Olanoff himself here.

What do you think of this? Is he a little crazy or just a fantastic person – or maybe a little of both?
