Which Of The Top Verified Twitter Users Follow Each Other? [MAP]

Isaac Hepworth, who works on “unusual projects” at Twitter (seriously, it’s on his business card), has created a gorgeous data visualization of the relationships among 50,000 verified Twitter users.

If you’ve ever been curious about which Twitter-famous people follow which other Twitter-famous people, this map is for you.

The users are colored by category: blue for news, purple for government and politics, red for music, yellow for sports and green for TV — the five largest categories on Twitter today.

When you zoom in really far, the dots of color become written Twitter handles:

One of the most interesting patterns to observe is the overlap between categories of tweeters — i.e., journalists and politicians following each other, and musicians and TV stars following each other.
