Infographic Illustrates Cell Phone Etiquette From Around the Globe

Did you know that Russian and Chinese cell phone users are not likely to utilize voicemail? Or that it’s common for Thai and Chinese users to answer their phones during a job interview or a face-to-face conversation? ¬†Different countries have different etiquette when it comes to cell phone use and without familiarity, one can get easily offended. If you travel or do business abroad, you might be familiar with various cell phone usage around the globe, but for the rest of us, this handy infographic from Repair Labs will get ¬†us started in the right direction.

However, I do find this statement in the poster a bit condescending:

The UK, like the US, has had cell phones for a while and has developed proper phone etiquette.

Just remember to stay polite and open-minded about cultural differences, even if you think someone’s behavior is offensive or rude. You’re just as likely to commit an offense in a different culture.
