Sesame Street Workshop has partnered with digital content services firm Impelsys to launch the Sesame Street Elmo Story Collection for the iPad. The $1.99 app includes six stories including three audio ebooks, two of which are exclusive to the app.

This is not Sesame Street’s first move into apps and eBooks. In 2010, Sesame Street launched an eBookstore. Last year, working with Random House Children’s Books and Smashing Ideas, Sesame Street Workshop released the “Step into Reading” app series. The new Elmo Story Collection app is an extension of the Sesame Street eBookstore, which offers unlimited access to a library of more than 160 Sesame Street ebooks on a subscription basis.

The Elmo Story Collection app features four titles from the Sesame Street eBookstore as well as two new exclusive titles. It does not require a subscription.
