Couric and A. Coop to Team Up?

The de facto merger of CNN and CBS News is apparently back on the table after 10 years of talks. The New York Times reports this morning that CBS executives are in talks with the news channel to essentially outsource the news-gathering functions to its erstwhile competitor while keeping the talent (i.e. Katie Couric, et. al.) intact. The idea is nothing new -- the two sides had discussions in 1998, while CNN approached ABC News with the same offer four years later -- but CBS News is in a more difficult spot this time around, with a publicly traded stock that must ...
