1. Reasons to Blog
Before you launch your first blog, it’s important to have a well-grounded set of aims or objectives. What are you trying to accomplish? What do you hope to do? The fresher you keep these goals in mind as you continue the early development of your blog, the more success you’ll find.

2. Types of Blogs
There are many different types of blogs: personal diaries, cultural and political commentary, blogs run by companies for promotion, client or customer outreach, on and on.

Each different type of blog has its own strategy and practices -- some with longer posts and developed commentary, others with quick thoughts and lots of links. Some blogs are updated daily, some every week, others three times an hour.

3. Passion of the Bloggers
A key to blogging success is a sense of excitement and writerly energy. Blog about what interests you most, a topic you're fully devoted to and passionate about.

4. Blogging Style
Each blog has its own voice and style. Blog writing tends to be concise, clear, and heavily structured, often with bullet points and frequent paragraph breaks. Write simply and clearly, and make sure to title your posts; a good title goes a long way.

Above all, have a clear plan of attack, know what you want to write about before you write it, and always be on the look out for new topics and breaking news.
