Washington Post columnist and editorial writer Anne Applebaum will soon be leaving the Washington Post, we learn today. We hear that it is largely due to her husband having taken a new job in a different city.

Many will be sad to see Applebaum go. Her take on events frequently brought a fresh perspective to the tired punditry and talking points. Most sad of all, however, is that Applebaum's departure leaves the Post's editorial/opinion pages virtually female-free. Ruth Marcus is the only female left on the Post's editorial page and Ellen Goodman is the only other regular female columnist you'll see an op-ed from on their opinion page.
