"I do think that the quality which makes a man want to write and be read is essentially a desire for self-exposure and is masochistic. Like one of those guys who has a compulsion to take his thing out and show it on the street." - James Jones Friday, Jul 22
A Leaky Leak Investigation
Turns out that Scooter Libby's version doesn't line up with Tim Russert's, and--surprise, surprise--Bob Novak and Karl Rove don't appear to tell the same story either. Eek. The NYT meanwhile today goes back to the beginning, looking at the story behind the yellowcake Niger expedition and how exactly Libby and Rove worked behind-the-scenes to shore up support for the war after Joe Wilson's op-ed raised some questions as to the veracity of the reports. One observation out of this: After two years of near-total secrecy surrounding this case, it seems like there's a lot more leaks coming out of this case in the last two weeks. That can't be good for the "subjects" or the "targets" of the investigation. A programming note: With the President on the road, the White House won't be briefing or gaggling today. Email This Post |
