Marc Weingarten's Review Pushed Hunter Thompson Widow To Tears
According to Stacey McCain in the Washington Times, Jann Wenner and Corey Seymour discredit everything Thompson wrote after leaving Rolling Stone. Considering the source, well, duh. What does she expect from Wenner? She sounds annoying as hell. So many rock widows do. Weingarten wrote: Rolling Stone founder Jann S. Wenner and writer Corey Seymour-- who held Thompson's hand as a Rolling Stone assistant editor in the '90s--trace the slow spiral into infirmity and depression ending in Thompson's suicide on Feb. 20, 2005.What "Gonzo" makes abundantly clear is that he circled the drain for a long time. Mrs. Thompson wrote Wenner a tell-off letter last May, but assures fans that Johnny Depp, who wrote the forward, is a-okay: for those of you worried about Johnny Depp, although I haven't spoken to him in a long time, I can assure you that he probably did not have a chance to read the manuscript before agreeing to let Jann republish his rolling stone article as the "forward."
