Kinsley to 'kibitz'Howard Kurtz has some information on what Kinsley's role will be at the Washington Post: Post Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt said he is "delighted" to keep Kinsley as a columnist, calling him "one of the smartest and funniest guys" in journalism. Slate, the online magazine that The Post bought from Microsoft earlier this year, will run Kinsley's column the same day. For the three or four non-Jews among my readership: to 'kibitz' is to be a meddlesome onlooker. In fact, I wanted mediabistro to call this site KibitzLA. Meanwhile, Andres Martinez guested today on KPCC's AirTalk show. No big surprises, although he did point out that Kinsley's departure from the LAT was a two-stage process, the first stage of which-- stepping down as editorial page overseer-- was initiated by Kinsley. So, says Martinez, it's unfortunate that this has been cast in a bitter light. (Larry Mantle also reported that Kinsley declined to be a guest on the show, saying he wasn't ready to talk about his departure, but might in the future.) Email This Post |
