FamousDC: The FishbowlDC Interview

Captureqmarkfmdc.JPGSay hello to FamousDC, the new D.C. blog that, doggoneit, won’t say who they are. So before agreeing to let them take the FishbowlDC interview, we had to ask them some unique questions first. We’re not sure that we believe any of the answers.

How many of you are regular contributors to the site? On a daily basis, we usually have three. On a regular basis, we have about six. We are fortunate to have contributors of all stripes. We have some who are funny, some who try to be funny and some who need a lot of editing in order to be even slightly funny. We have contributors that are journos, campaigners, web geeks, PR professionals, a professor, a lawyer (who doesn’t spend nearly enough time posting), and a couple of college drop outs who work part time at TJ Maxx. We’re mostly young, a few old [not quite Larry King old] Republican, Democrat, good looking and ridiculously good looking. If you want to know more about us, wander on over to your FB friends.

How many are men/women? Daily, two men and a woman. We have plenty of smart women who stop by regularly to paint our blog famous.

Are you Doug Heye? Or has Doug Heye ever purchased drinks for you? Haha. No, we’re not nearly that old. Coincidentally, Doug Heye (pronounced “hi”) bought us drinks recently without knowing we’re FamousDC.

When are you going to fess up and admit that you work at New Media Strategies? (FishbowlDC’s theory) HA! When they start paying us. We hate the Philadelphia Eagles, but we’re big fans of Pete Snyder. Actually, we follow everything Bill Beutler, Leslie Bradshaw and Howard Mortman write, but we don’t work for NMS.

Also, drop us a line to let us know who else you’d like FishbowlDC to interview. They must work in the Washington area and you must include their email address.

What word do you routinely misspell? Transparency

What’s the name of your cell phone ring? “Superstar” Lupe Fiasco

What time did you get up this morning? Pardon us Lord, but today a few FDC contributors rolled out of bed a bit late. It’s those damn Irish Car Bombs at Murphy’s that get us every time. Generally, it’s 5:45 a.m. We all get up early and start scanning the hill pubs for post ideas.

When did you last cry and why? We last cried a little on the inside during the conventions. We’re constantly ducking away from reporters trying to figure out who we are and we thought you had us when we talked with Craig from Craigslist. We shed one single tear.

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? We receive about 20 “tip emails” per day, but we need more. Please send us ideas, suggestions, tips, posts, and recipes to tips@famousdc.com.

What’s your favorite letter? D. Because if you’re grading us, it’s in between an F and a C [FDC].

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? It’s a three-way tie between: Matt Drudge, Chris Cooley, and Deep Throat

When’s the last time you volunteered? Where? We’re not getting paid for running FamousDC, so we like to think we’re volunteering every time we post.

Who is your favorite active journalist? Is Dan Rather still around?

What did you have for breakfast? We always start our day with Talking Points Cereal followed by a cup of coffee from Anonymous Cafe.

What one toiletry item could you not live without? Q-”tips”

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? Invisibility. We’d love the ability to sit through newsroom briefings when they’re contemplating whether to run with the infamous “background quotes” on the front page.

Red or white wine? R-E-D … pinot noir

PG-13 or R? PG-13. We have to make sure we can get through those Congressional filters.

Lincoln, Jefferson or Washington Memorial? Jefferson Memorial. Great spot for dancing.

Leg or breast (chicken, of course) Leg.

Friday night or Saturday night? Saturday night. Do you realize how many story ideas we get when the shot bar is bumping? That is 100% how we came up with the FamousDC Media Ticket.

“Wedding Crashers” or “Old School” Wedding Crashers … motor boat, baby, motor boat

The Palm or Cafe Milano? Cafe Milano … Famous for DC bold faced names get us up in the morning

Yankees or Red Sox? Daddy Yankee

Jenna or Barbara? Whoever walks up to the bar first at the SP.

McSteamy or McDreamy? We are told that McDreamy is definitely hotter.

Leno or Letterman? Conan

Stewart or Colbert? Jon Stewart

Boxers or briefs? Most of us roll commando
