Former ABC Anchor at the Newseum Saturday

Carole Simpson, the former anchor of ABC’s “World News Tonight” Sunday edition from 1988 to 2003, will be at the Newseum Saturday to talk about her new memoir, “Newslady.”

Much of the book focuses on Simpson’s struggle against gender and racial barriers in American newsrooms. She was the first African-American woman to anchor a major network newscast when she joined NBC News in 1974. She was also the first woman and the first minority to moderate a presidential debate in 1992.

The three-time Emmy Award winner will also sign copies of her book after the talk. The program begins at 2:30.
