Let’s face it. C-SPAN is a target. They put up with jokes at every gala. Comedians love to paint them as the network that either puts people to sleep or bores them. And they take it all in stride. At the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner, SNL Comedian Seth Meyers used it in his routine, saying, “C-SPAN is of course the official network for wide shots and empty chairs. … C-SPAN is one unpaid electric bill away from being a radio station. People think Bin Laden is hiding in the Hindu Kush, but did you know that everyday from 4 to 5 he hosts a show on C-SPAN?”
But on Monday it was C-SPAN getting the last laugh as they won a prize. And a big one at that: The Peabody. The award is for the C-SPAN Video Library. The event was held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan.
