Washington Examiner Editorial Page Editor Mark Tapscott sent out an internal email to staff on Friday announcing that Philip Klein will be joining the Commentary section. Klein most recently worked for the American Spectator. He starts March 28.

Subject: Philip Klein to join Examiner’s Commentary section staff

I am pleased to announce that Philip Klein is joining The Washington Examiner’s Commentary Section staff as senior writer. His first day with us will be March 28. Philip has been Washington correspondent for the American Spectator for several years and before that was a reporter at Reuters in New York City. At both Reuters and the Spectator, Philip displayed the kind of detailed, thorough writing and reporting that will make him a key member of the Commentary staff. Philip will be working primarily on congressional-focused writing, but will also be blogging frequently on a wide variety of public policy and campaign 2012 issues and personalities. His undergraduate degree is from George Washington University and he is a graduate of the Columbia University masters program in journalism.
